Now This Is How You Nude It.

L’Oréal Paris had wowed us once again with the August 2007 launch of the new Colour Riche Made for Me Naturals lipstick. L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Made for Me Naturals are a collection of 12 nude shades designed to maximize the beauty of each and every woman. L’Oréal has even gone a step further than just stating the claim that the new natural shades are created just for you and have, in fact, developed nude lipstick colours to compliment the gorgeous variety of hair and skin colouring that abound. Made for Me Naturals range of lipsticks come in a selection of colours to suit everyone from blondes to brunettes, porcelain skin to darker skin.

According to James Kaliardos, L’Oréal Paris Makeup Artist Designer,

“Nude lips are all about a clean look, perfect for any occasion. A flawless complexion, impeccably groomed brows and glossy black lashes…neutral but far from dull!”

to blondes…

For blondes, nude flirts with a rosy pink, bringing out the healthy radiance of fair complexions.

From women with light-brown hair…

For women with light-brown hair, nude shades are with hints of powdered pink, boosted by a fresh, radiantly iridescent edge.

To women with chestnut-brown hair…

For women with chestnut-brown hair, nudes have a hint of mauve, softened and brought up-to-date by mother-of-pearl, for an effect that blends with the chestnut tones in the hair to truly light up the complexion.

From darker skin…

For women with darker skin, nude shades are warmed up by caramel, honey and ginger notes, with a little pink and gold to illuminate and warm up darker complexions.

To porcelain complexions…

For women with porcelain complexions, nudes comes with a touch of pink and a dash of apricot to deliciously light up very pale complexions and boost the radiance of Asian skin and porcelain complexions.

L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Made for Me Naturals possess the exceptional formula for which L’Oréal Paris is known. Omega-3 oils and Vitamin E are present to prevent the lips from drying out and the lipsticks creamy texture leaves the lips moisturized and smooth. Plus, who could resist the elegantly designed satin-gold case? It’s gorgeous all-round. L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Made for Me Naturals are exactly how nudes should be done. Just stellar!

Befreckled Beauty.

A gorgeous beauty photograph graced the inbox of my computer this morning and was the inspiration for this post. I don’t think I can legally show it without permission, so I will do my best to describe it. Makeup aside, the photograph was an exquisite headshot of a woman with alabaster skin and the most divine pale violet coloured eyes that resembled precious Iolites. The woman in the photo also had the most glorious freckles setting gracefully along her brow, bridge of her nose and upper cheek bones. What captured my immediate attention, besides the colour of her eyes *faints*, was the gorgeous vulnerabilities of her inherent natural beauty on show by allowing her freckles to be seen. I adore the fact that they have gone with the option of allowing them to peek through the skillfully applied makeup. By permitting her freckles to exist in the photograph, it was a wonderful acknowledgment of the depth of her beauty. I only wish many more of our befreckled beauties would embrace the sheer loveliness of their presence.

You Are Entering A Makeup Fascism Free Zone.

Do you ever feel a bit brow beaten by the dictum often put forth by many of my fellow pundits of beauty, stating that a red lip must always be accompanied by a nude eye? I do. I must confess. The funny thing about it is, as I do know a bit about beauty and only adhere to a few of the conventions of the day, I am starting to feel this catch cry is getting a bit fanatical. The purpose of this post is really just to say, “Whoa, Nelly!” Save that right-wing business for your eyeliner.

You can wear a signature red lip with a dark eye. Feel free to smoke up your lids, like it’s nobody’s business. Heck, even add a bit of ultra finely milled glitter to those lovely lids if the feeling strikes. Go for it! The only two things you might like to be cognizant of (and only if you feel like it) is, if you’re going to rock a bold red lip, ensure that your makeup application is immaculate and well blended…everywhere. That really is the key to wearing what you want, how you want. Wearing makeup is all about making the most of your beauty and feeling fabulous!

*Gloves off ladies*

If it makes you feel good, wear it. It’s as simple as that.

Glittery Gorgeousness!

This photo was taken backstage at the last A/W show for Anna Molinari. Yes, a divine M.A.C. created eye that just epitomizes why I love glitter so. To me, this is a super sultry look that means business. Totally free of any fairy princess cuteness (not that that’s a bad thing) …just pure unadulterated shimmering smolder. I am pretty sure this look is easily recreate-able with just a wash of a metallic muted jade or spring green shadow, a liberal application of M.A.C. Reflects in Reflects Red, and lashings of mascara. C’est Tout! It’s nearly criminal how simply fabulous this eye is.

What’s Old Is New Again.

Early Egyptian civilizations were the first to show a demonstrated commitment to the use of cosmetics. The eye was the main feature chosen by early Egyptians for embellishment. Sounds like a civilization after my own heart, truth be told. The gemstones, Lapis Lazuli and Malachite were often ground up to a powder and used to magically highlight their eyes. It seems like they were amongst the first to be hip to mineral makeup too, by the sounds of it. It’s so very intriguing to bare witness to how beauty of the ancients lives on in the trends of today.

If You’re Going To Walk The Walk…

You’ve got to talk the talk! (in the most good humoured way of course) I got the best email asking about the terms I used in yesterday’s post O’l Blue Eyes. When I replied to the email, I asked if I could share a bit of the email as the question asked may have also been on the minds of a few of you lovely lasses as well. Plus, it was too good not to share. Our gorgeous Beauty Marked! reader agreed:

“What on earth is the inner V and, well, outer V for that matter? Also, which crease do I apply the eyeshadow to? I seem to have a few creases as I suspect my eyes might be a bit older than yours.”

Well, beautiful one, the terms you asked about from yesterday’s post all refer to areas of makeup placement on the eye.

Crease = The fold just above your top eyelid that is visible when your eyes are open. Applying eyeshadow to this crease area can add definition to your eyes. Mind you, some Asian beauties may not have a visible crease on their eye lids, but only the continuation of the eyelid up to the brow area and won’t really have a need for added definition here, in any case. Remember that dark colours give the illusion that the area it’s used on is moving back or receding, therefore making everything lighter in colour more pronounced. Hence the use of light colours will have the opposite effect making that area more noticeable.

Outer V= The area of your outer upper eyelid that can be drawn like a figurative side lying V between your upper lashline and the outer edge of the crease area of your eye. The pointy bottom section of the V lies in the direction of your ears. The same rules of dark and light also apply here in regards to definition too. The Outer V is also a great place for a small pop of gorgy colour if you’re feeling a bit adventurous.

Inner V= This is the area of the eye where the top and bottom lashlines meet. This area also makes a figurative side lying V, where the base of the V is pointing towards the bridge of the nose. The Inner V is absolutely a divine place to drop a bit of highlighting colour. Often a shimmery opalescent , pale gold, or pearly colour used in the Inner V will give you a beautiful, much sought after, wide awake twinkle.

So there you go, a brief rundown of a few makeup terms used to describe the real estate of the eye. But honestly, terms like that inner eye bit, the…um…bendy/curvy/foldy section and that upper outer eye area work good enough for me too. Wink.

What are some of the makeup terms you use?
