Maybe Try This At Home?

looseblacktea.jpg

We came across this unusual, yet rather folksy fab, homemade recipe for sunless tanner and thought we’d give it a go. It’s uber-easy, much like we love and most good folks are likely to have the ingredients on hand to whip up their own bit of a beaut tan. All you need is a super strong cup of black tea (loose leaves preferably) left to steep for the better part of an hour and a sea sponge or something similar to apply. After the tea has steeped and is coolish to touch, dip the sponge into the strong black tea and then artfully dab it onto the areas you wish to faux tan. The good thing about self tanning with black tea is that it doesn’t seem to streak and can be reapplied in layers to build up to a reasonable level of colour. We did notice, however, that you should leave each layer to dry before applying the next to get the most noticeable increase in colour. Who would have thought it was as easy or as cheap as that? Too nifty.

Just Too Cool.

L’Occitane has recently released 3 trés cool additions to its Verbena Harvest range and all with L’Occitane’s prized organic verbena extract. L’Occitane is proud to introduce you to: Cooling Powdered Foot Gel, Cooling Mousse For Tired Legs, and Cooling Deodorant Stick. This luxe trio is sure to keep you in great step in the warmer months and beyond.

Cooling Powdered Foot Gel With its amazingly novel and appreciated formulation aside, the organic verbena extract and invigorating, yet not-too-minty mint essential oil are able to transform a steamy, uncomfortable pedal predicament into a cool, refreshing, purified, and sensational situation for the soles. Cooling Powdered Foot Gel also contains antimicrobial sage essential oil and absorbent tapioca powder. What Beauty Marked! particularly loves about this all-star line-up of ingredients in this considerate formulation is that it not only manages to sort out your feet, but leaves them aptly treated without the greasy finish. Your feet are left revitalized and feeling silky.

Cooling Mousse For Tired Legs This lightweight mousse increases circulation and eases the tired sensation of weary legs. The mousse transforms into an icy cool liquid upon application, which delivers the perfect amount of menthol, organic verbena extract, and cyprus essential oil to perk-up your pins.

Cooling Deodorant Stick Seeing that your legs and feet are now sorted, why not go for pole position after making a pit stop with L’Occitane’s fast drying, mint and sage essential oil enriched, and alcohol, aluminum salt-free stick deodorant? Cooling Deodorant Stick is infused with the delicate and long-lasting perfume of organic verbena, which leaves us well placed to confidently glide through the day. We love that!

L’Occitane Verbena Harvest is available from all L’Occitane boutiques nationwide and is…just too cool!

Bonza Burn Balm.

Here’s another Too Easy folksy fab recipe from Beauty Marked!, that will help to soothe and heal superficial burns to the skin. Okay, okay, I’ll be honest it’s also pretty a-w-e-s-o-m-e on flatiron burns too of which I am no stranger. *hangs head* When next at your local health food shop or supplier of premium base beauty products, do be sure to grab some aloe vera gel. All you’ll need for BM!’s Bonza Burn Balm is about 100 mL aloe vera gel and thoroughly stir in about 12 drops or so of top quality (preferably certified organic) true lavender essential oil (lavandula augustifolia). Apply the gel directly onto the burn and reapply as often as needed, particularly when the burn heats up or starts to smart. Store BM!’s Bonza Burn Gel in a glass jar in the fridge, at the ready, for applying to superficial and sun burns for speedy, effective, and uberhealing relief. Aaahhh…..

Shedding A Bit Of Light Under The Matter.

bmspotlight.jpg

Beauty Marked! very often gets emails inquiring about the dusky shadows seen on a great many underarms of our gorgeous readers. Most emails are asking about what causes this darkening and how can one get rid of it? Since BM! can’t ever pass up an opportunity to assist where we can, we thought we’d just shed a bit of light under the old arm if we could.

A lot of the darkening seen in the underarm area is due to friction. This friction is more than likely being caused by excess rubbing due to skin-on-skin contact and or shaving. It’s worth mentioning too, that good old-fashioned genetics can also play a part in darkening the skin there as well. The good news is that you may be able to lighten the area by regular under arm exfoliation. Both mechanical (scrubs and loofahs) and chemical exfoliation (AHAs and LAs) should not only lighten the area overtime, but will assist with any ingrowns should you traditionally fall prey to them. Waxing is generally the hair removal method of choice if you are bothered by dusky underarms. I suspect it has more to do with the hair lying just under the skin left by razoring, as shaving only removes the surface parts of the hair, while leaving the deeper, more pigmented follicles behind. Think of the darkening as a 5 o’clock shadow of the underarm area. Waxing, when done well, removes the follicles and any hair hanging out just below the surface eliminating the appearance of shading and fast re-growth…for a much longer period of time that is.

So, for those of you who are bothered by the darkening often seen in the underarm area, have a go at regular exfoliating and perhaps waxing, as your hair removal of choice, to brighten up your underarms. You should see a vast improvement within a few weeks with bit of luck and a calculated plan of approach. Not bad, ay?

Thanks for your wonderful enquiries, ladies, and do know that it is always our Beauty Marked! pleasure to assist.
