LOGIE Bare?
Did absolutely everyone (yes, I acknowledge my seeming penchant to hyperbolize) have to “nude up” for the 2007 TV Week LOGIE Awards? I mean really. Obviously, the makeup directive was nude lip and cheek for one and all, regardless! I was so let down by the overwhelming absence of even the slightest bloom of living, fleshy colour. So many beautiful, beautiful women, beautiful frocks, and beautifully greasy, Corpse Bride looks, if I may be honest. Did everyone have to sport the makeup look as if they had to dash from the chair with only their foundation applied, not an angel’s puff of loose powder to lightly set, and most certainly without a trace of a natural flush to be found…not a pinch.
Yes, I adore a great makeup trend, this we know. But what I love even more is a woman who wears a makeup look that not only suits her, but showcases the abundance of her inner beauty and self worth, and glamorously jets her magnificence into the stratosphere, irrespective of the trend. Simply put, I’m not feeling the “Look of The Undone” on everyone. Don’t think for a moment, that I do not recognize the immense skill in completing such a bare look, because I do. I just would have preferred looks that were skillfully tailored to each gorgeous woman. Looks that allowed each woman’s inner beauty and life-force to radiate outward from her beautiful self. If the makeup look chosen created the most magic, called for her to go so nude, then so be it, and definitely go for it! But I’m not convinced the uniform and very glowy (read: greasy) nude-fest was the best choice for everyone. And you mean to tell me there was not one leaf of blotting paper to be found in the joint. Anywhere?

A Snapshot Of RAFW 07.
Honestly, with each show vying more intensely for our attention, one could be forgiven for being unable to recall which makeup look they favoured the most. It’s truly bamboozling. So, in order to momentarily halt the madness which abounds during Rosemount Australian Fashion Week, I ordered up a snapshot of one of the looks I was instantly smitten by: The Palm Springs Glamour “Look” from ModelCo for Stephanie Conley. The ever so talented Noni Smith directed the makeup looks for the show. It goes without saying that all the delectable makeup goodies used were ModelCo. Here are the bits and bobs cleverly used to create those magnificent eyes:
Colourbox Eyeshadow in Bahamas- Wash the entire lid with this white lustre powder including the inner corner of the eyes.
Colourbox Eyeshadow in Positano- Brush this turquoise shimmer over lid from lashline to crease.
Colourbox Eyeshadow in Ibiza- Mix this purple shadow with
Luminosity Highlighting Serum to create this shimmery mauve for defining under the lower lid.
Magic Water Powder to Liner- Mix with Ibiza to create eyeliner for lower lid.
Colourbox Eye Pencil in Black- To line the upper lashline.
Colourbox Eye Pencil in White- To line the waterline of lower lid.
Eyebrowz Designer Brow kit in Medium- To shape and define brows.
Brow Control- Use to keep the brows in place.
Lash Out Individual Lashes and Glue- Add falsies sporadically along the entire upper lashline.
LashXtend Mascara in Violet- Apply a few coats to both top and bottom lashes.
Lash Wand- Heated eyelash curler for use after applying mascara.
Divine!

Real Dynamic Duos.
Just wanted to give you the heads up about a great LE collection being released in June 07, by Elizabeth Arden, called Cool Blue. Hot Bronze. The entire collection is exceptional, as we have come to expect from Elizabeth Arden, but the purpose of this post is to alert you to the two fantastic Color Intrigue Gel Eyeliner Duos only available for a short time in this collection. The Color Intrigue Gel Eyeliner Duos come in two colour combinations: Deep Brown/Hot Bronze and Black Sand/Blue Water. What’s better is that each Duo comes with it’s own natural haired eyeliner brush. They, perhaps, aren’t the longest wearing gel eyeliners on the market, but are incredibly pigmented and will leave you with a great foundation for colour. What on earth am I on about you ask? Okay, let me break it down. The crisp bright colour you apply on its own will not last as initially applied, but it will deposit exceptional pigment that delivers a long lasting stain. So, if you wear this baby alone, you will be left with a nice even fade of color that is only reminiscent of the color first applied, but still very beautiful. So what’s the point of that you say? The point of this, is that by the end of the day you will be left with a really comfy, water resistant, well worn liner that doesn’t scream “just applied”, but looks sultry and exceedingly enchanting. The stain does stay until removed.
Another cool thing about Elizabeth Arden Color Intrigue Gel Eyeliners is that they are so richly pigmented and apply so très smoothly that they make a killer base. After you apply the gel liners, go over the eyeliner with a corresponding powder eyeshadow to set. The Gel liner grabs hold of the powdered eye product and totally amps up both the colour and the dimension of both products. Simply scrumptious.
Deep Brown is nearly black but still brown. Hot Bronze is a red-free, finely milled shimmer of a true antiqued bronze. The shimmer does translate onto the lids and onto the stain as well. Black Sand is a flat black that smacks of charcoal and isn’t harsh in the least. Blue water is a deep metallic lapis come cobalt that moves onto a gorgeous navy stain. The Color Intrigue Gel Eyeliner Duos have an ample total net weight of 5 grams. Do be sure to check out these beauties as with the complete LE Cool Blue. Hot Bronze. Collection, which is on counter from early June 2007.
Another Global Beauty Bite.
I remain intrigued by the results of Clinique’s Global Survey that provides a snapshot into the truths about beauty that over 10, 400 women in over 13 countries, whose mother tongues span over 15 languages, have. Today, I was particularly interested in the global makeup and fragrance preferences stated in summary of the vast many women that contributed to the survey and thought I would share them with you. According to the survey:
Makeup essentials vary.
-The makeup products that are viewed as essential vary from country to country.
-Lipstick is most essential in the US, China, India, Mexico, Spain, and South Africa.
It was also noted that in the Asian countries of China, India, and Japan, one-third of respondents said there is no item of makeup they wouldn’t leave home without.
Foundation is the most essential in Japan and Korea.
-Almost all women in Japan wear foundation and a majority wear it daily.
-Foundation is also popular in Korea, the US, and the UK.
-Foundation is least popular in India. Only one-third wear it and then only on special occasions.
Beautiful skin looks natural.
-The right colour match is by far the most important quality in a foundation.
-In Italy, Korea, and Spain, the correct level of coverage is most important
Women smell sweeter in some countries.
-Daily fragrance is popular in Australia, Mexico, Russia, Spain, South Africa, and the UK
-Fragrance was not at all popular in Asian countries of China, India, Japan, and Korea. Women in the US, Germany, and Italy are almost evenly split on the use of fragrance daily.
There you have it…another global beauty bite. Are your preferences similiar to the above? I’d love to know.

Go Hard or Go Home.
Yep. Today, I’ve had to pull out the big guns. After having, for what seems like an eternity, a flu that just won’t quit, I now find myself needing to play hardball with the dreaded post lurgy pallor. Yes, that’s the one. That dusky gray caste that just screams lackluster. No point trying to alter it by reaching for a darker foundation colour than you usually wear, because that only adds insult to injury, by leaving you looking just…well…wrong. No point in going the full on faux tan because you don’t have time to wait for your colour to develop and your colouring is bound to right itself eventually but eventually is a bit longer than you have at the time. I know you can relate. So today, I’ve gone the Glamazon! Glamazon, by Benefit Cosmetics, is just the ticket in situations like these. Glamazon liquid bronzing tint gives just the perfect natural, rosy and ever so alluring, barely sun-kissed tan just when and to where you need it. Glamazon works best when applied soon after moisturizing for the smoothest application. I just brushed Glamazon onto my face only where the sun would catch me naturally, blended, and viola! Natural colour that lasts the day. Glamazon can be layered on if desired, if you really need to kick it up a notch. Thank goodness, I no longer look as green around the gills as I still feel. I was starting to get concerned that I may be frightening small children.
