LOGIE Bare?
Did absolutely everyone (yes, I acknowledge my seeming penchant to hyperbolize) have to “nude up” for the 2007 TV Week LOGIE Awards? I mean really. Obviously, the makeup directive was nude lip and cheek for one and all, regardless! I was so let down by the overwhelming absence of even the slightest bloom of living, fleshy colour. So many beautiful, beautiful women, beautiful frocks, and beautifully greasy, Corpse Bride looks, if I may be honest. Did everyone have to sport the makeup look as if they had to dash from the chair with only their foundation applied, not an angel’s puff of loose powder to lightly set, and most certainly without a trace of a natural flush to be found…not a pinch.
Yes, I adore a great makeup trend, this we know. But what I love even more is a woman who wears a makeup look that not only suits her, but showcases the abundance of her inner beauty and self worth, and glamorously jets her magnificence into the stratosphere, irrespective of the trend. Simply put, I’m not feeling the “Look of The Undone” on everyone. Don’t think for a moment, that I do not recognize the immense skill in completing such a bare look, because I do. I just would have preferred looks that were skillfully tailored to each gorgeous woman. Looks that allowed each woman’s inner beauty and life-force to radiate outward from her beautiful self. If the makeup look chosen created the most magic, called for her to go so nude, then so be it, and definitely go for it! But I’m not convinced the uniform and very glowy (read: greasy) nude-fest was the best choice for everyone. And you mean to tell me there was not one leaf of blotting paper to be found in the joint. Anywhere?
Out With The Tide…
Just a quick Beauty Public Service Announcement ladies. Please don’t forget to blend your foundation in around the edges of your face, paying particular attention to the jaw-line, tip of the nose and chin area. Some makeup mavens are still getting caught out with visible tide lines. I suspect the prevalence of tide lines has less to do with the correct foundation colour match, but more to do with our busy, often rushed, lives. We are still, occasionally, forgetting to check that our foundations are fully blended in. It’s easily done and it most certainly can happen to the best of us. So just take a brief moment or two to make sure you push your well blended foundation around your jaw-line, just under your chin, up to your ears and hairline. Better yet, only use foundation where you need it and blend, blend, blend!
Top Coat. Base Coat. What’s the point?
The point of top and base coats when polishing your nails, is that they not only protect your nails from the varnish you are using, but also help to extend the life of your nail polish. Base and top coats are always required when properly polishing your nails. They are just as necessary as the two coats of colour you paint on. Many companies have built on the basic requirements and uses of base and top coats, that some now clam to dry quicker, entice rapid nail growth, whiten, harden, to be chemical free, and can support MP3s, to boot! But seriously, the most basic essentials of these two requisite coats are:
Base Coat - to smooth the nail surface and to add a colourless protective varnish layer to protect your nail from the colour pigments in nail polishes that can stain (particularly your reds, fuchsias, and darks).
Top Coat - to add shine to your nail polish and to seal in the layers forming a tougher, fade and chip resistant polish.
Beyond that, it’s just a matter of what added optional extras you fancy in a base and top coat.

A Snapshot Of RAFW 07.
Honestly, with each show vying more intensely for our attention, one could be forgiven for being unable to recall which makeup look they favoured the most. It’s truly bamboozling. So, in order to momentarily halt the madness which abounds during Rosemount Australian Fashion Week, I ordered up a snapshot of one of the looks I was instantly smitten by: The Palm Springs Glamour “Look” from ModelCo for Stephanie Conley. The ever so talented Noni Smith directed the makeup looks for the show. It goes without saying that all the delectable makeup goodies used were ModelCo. Here are the bits and bobs cleverly used to create those magnificent eyes:
Colourbox Eyeshadow in Bahamas- Wash the entire lid with this white lustre powder including the inner corner of the eyes.
Colourbox Eyeshadow in Positano- Brush this turquoise shimmer over lid from lashline to crease.
Colourbox Eyeshadow in Ibiza- Mix this purple shadow with
Luminosity Highlighting Serum to create this shimmery mauve for defining under the lower lid.
Magic Water Powder to Liner- Mix with Ibiza to create eyeliner for lower lid.
Colourbox Eye Pencil in Black- To line the upper lashline.
Colourbox Eye Pencil in White- To line the waterline of lower lid.
Eyebrowz Designer Brow kit in Medium- To shape and define brows.
Brow Control- Use to keep the brows in place.
Lash Out Individual Lashes and Glue- Add falsies sporadically along the entire upper lashline.
LashXtend Mascara in Violet- Apply a few coats to both top and bottom lashes.
Lash Wand- Heated eyelash curler for use after applying mascara.
Divine!

A Rose By Any Other Name…
It really is an enormous undertaking, which spans countless faculties, when one decides to hang with the “firebrands” of fragrance. It’s very serious stuff, indeed. Although I can’t be sure, but I am reasonably certain, small land wars have been fought over the dry down of a scent or two. One can easily feel out of their depth when attempting to opine about the exceedingly complex nature of fragrance. But really, it’s all about how a scent smells to you and how fabulous it makes you feel, isn’t it?
From my vantage point, Agent Provocateur Eau Emotionnelle EDT, is so very feminine and equally flirtatious, that not much further remarking need be made. Eau Emotionnelle is often called the “charming sister” to Agent Provocateur’s inimitable and unabashed signature scent: Agent Provocateur. Eau Emotionnelle has top notes of wild rosemary and pink pepper, middle notes of jasmine, osmanthus, magnolia, and white tea, and base notes of woods and musk. Having personally never had the pleasure of consciously smelling a magnolia, pink pepper, or the evergreen shrub osmanthus, which is apparently common in southern US, Middle East, China, and Japan, I couldn’t begin to tell you if this smells true. But I am very aware of a extraordinarily complex, polygamic marriage of scents that exist with playful allure in this beguiling bottle. Agent Provocateur’s Eau Emotionnelle EDT is the one you reach for when you feel like inciting others to commit emotive acts based far from reason.
Scary But True.
Tweezerman ILashcomb™ is quite possibly one of the scariest beauty tools I have seen in all my beautiFULL life, but amongst the most effective at de-clumping and separating eyelashes. It’s true. Tweezerman ILashcomb™ is a fabulous tool for both gently and effectively creating gorgeous lashes. The business end of the Tweezerman ILashcomb™ looks like it could really do someone a mischief. The gold plated teeth effortlessly glide through your curled (of course) then mascara-ed lashes like it’s nobody’s business, removing any clumpy bits of mascara all the while liberating each lash from the next. Do be sure to comb away from your eye. Ideally, you’ll comb with your eye open, but if you’re feeling a little unsteady of hand, feel free to comb your lashes with your eye lightly closed. Another nifty bonus with this beauty tool, is that it makes ALL mascaras look good: from the cheap and cheerful to the high end extravaganzas. *whispers* In fact, after using the Tweezerman ILashcomb™ it’s darn near impossible to distinguish which mascara is top shelf and which is not. The teeth of the Tweezerman ILashcomb™ fold compactly away into the handle for protection (both it’s and yours, I suspect). I clean mine between uses by gently wiping the teeth with an alcohol swab. Tweezerman ILashcomb™ doesn’t take well to being submerged in liquids either. Liquid seems to shorten it’s life-span tremendously. I know this because I’m onto my second Tweezerman ILashcomb™ for this very reason. Doh! Check out Tweezerman or Dateline Imports for your nearest stockist.
