You have no idea how much I appreciate all the great many beauty questions and queries I receive each day. I am so very flattered that you ask them of me. Thank you. I get so many fabbo questions that I sometimes find it hard to get back to you lovelies in a timely fashion. So please accept my humble apologies and know that your emails and comments are very important to me and that I have put them all into thought and most certainly haven’t forgotten about them. So in hopes to answer several emailed questions that have the same or very similar answers, I will keep popping them in blog posts every so often, many times as topics of posts, in fact. Fingers crossed this will assist. I will also continue to answer your beauty questions in the Beauty Marked!® Online Beauty Magazine as well. So, hopefully, between the Get Even More Gorgeous With Beauty Marked!® blog and Beauty Marked!® online, we should get a fair few of your wonderful emails answered. I very much look forward to your emails and comments…they, absolutely, make my day. Thank You!

Public Holiday Pampering Du Jour.

In Australia, It’s the Queen’s birthday again. Does that make it her second or third birthday this year? I can’t recall. Many of us have the day off today, so what better opportunity than to have a little beauty R & R. Well, it’s not so much pampering (*wink*), but more Public Holiday Monday Maintenance. I’m up for a little Public Holiday Monday Maintenance, how about you? On today’s Maintenance Monday Menu, I’m ordering up a face scrub, a mask, and blowdry. To be followed by a manicure and pedicure, I suspect. What do you think you’ll have? You’ll have to order up something for yourself. Everything’s good I hear. Enjoy!

Another Great Beauty Question.

As emailed to Beauty Marked!…

I seem to be plagued with persistent under eye circles. They are not bags per se, but just dark shadows. I have used under eye concealer before, but they just seem too heavy and crease. What would you suggest I do? I want to disappear these circles, but I can’t seem to find a good concealer that will cover my circles, but not crease and highlight the fine lines under my eyes. I am a Malaysian-Indian woman and I would love to wear make-up, but I just can’t seem to get it right. Any ideas?

Ah, those blessed under eye circles. So many women I know have just thrown in the towel and have forgone all makeup out of that very frustration. I suppose it can look a bit funny with immaculate makeup on, elsewhere, and those pesky circles beaming out at you. I certainly can understand your predicament.

There are a few tips that may help in your situation. Firstly, try mixing a small dab of eye cream in with your concealer and apply the mixture to the under eye area and around the entire eye area using a concealer brush. The eye cream will act as it does to hydrate the eye area and plump up those fine lines with the added benefit, when mixed with concealer, of giving coverage to the area and subtly masking dark circles. With your under eye circles concealed, your total makeup look will appear flawless.

Another thing to keep in mind too, when buying concealer, is that if you are a yellow under toned person, as many woman of Indian heritage are, you might like to stick with concealers that are also yellow based. It is often suggested that one purchase a concealer a few shades lighter than your facial colouring, but, as a woman of colour, I would suggest that you go only one shade lighter, not a few.

Lastly, a very light dusting of a non talc based powder to the area may help to set the concealer. Don’t be afraid to use a different powder on specific areas of your face, as required. An example of a non talc based product is Jurlique Silk Dust for starters. Visit Jurlique for more info. This product is talc free and is based on corn and rice starch. Not only do these type products help your concealer stay put, but will absorb much of the excess oil on your face, when used on problem areas like the T zone. Also fixing your makeup with a fine misting of water works a treat to set all of your good work too.

Always feel free to contact me at Beauty Marked! or post a comment here for more beauty tips specific to your colouring and beauty needs. Yes, that does go for all of you lovely lasses, as well. It would be a pleasure!

Sometimes You’ve Just Got To Kick It Into Gear.

Yep, as you may have gathered, it’s just one of those days. No matter what you do, it’s just one of those days when your hair won’t sit right, and you cannot…to save your soul, do things like fill your brows evenly or blend your blush perfectly, or even conceal that blasted monthly hormonal horror which is sitting so high up on your chin you might just have to give it a name. Well, it happens to the best of us. Not much more to this post than that. My commiserations.

My best suggestion for you today is just kick it into gear, hold your head up high, and channel the abundance of inner beauty that is lying below the naughty hair, misbehaving skin, and mojo-less makeup, and rock it like you mean it! Why? Because you ARE beautiful!

Cuticle Woes Be Gone!

Dry cuticles, hangnails, and lackluster nails are the bane of most hands in winter. Nails that are a little or a lot worse for wear are generally a result of a lack of hydrating moisture due to the onset of chillier weather. Hands that also spend a fair bit of time in and out of water, without a proper bit of moisturizer applied to them in between, can particularly fall prey to dry cuticles and hangnails. Ouch! Talk about sore, unsightly little terrors.

Creative Nail Design SolarBalm is a nourishing pot of moisturizing goodness. SolarBalm is a highly emollient conditioning balm made specifically for nails and skin, which comprises of a blend of jojoba oil, vitamin E, and sweet almond oil. Just the tiniest amount of SolarBalm rubbed onto the nail, cuticle and surrounding skin will instantly hydrate. After a few days of regular use, you will certainly see and feel the difference in your nails and cuticles. Do resist the temptation to bite off or pull at any bits of dry cuticle or skin that are annoying you. Often this will cause them to tear further, to be even more painful, and become a potential source of infection. Use a quality pair of cuticle nips to remove the desiccated cuticle and hangnail only. Tweezerman Stainless 2000 Cuticle Nipper is Beauty Marked!’s tool of choice. This stainless steel, double spring cuticle nip is fantastic for removing that nuisance bit of dry cuticle or hangnail that’s not only unsightly, but catches on what seems like absolutely everything! Talk about adding insult to injury. Ugh! But not to worry, because before long, with regular maintenance, dry cuticles, hangnails, and brittle nails won’t be an issue for you… Right?

Creative Nail Design’s SolarBalm comes in a handy 9 gram tin that fits wonderfully in your handbag, pocket or wherever you store all things precious. Visit Creative Nail Place for your local stockist. Tweezerman Cuticle Nippers supplier info is gladly available from Dateline City.

Heading Home.

As you can imagine, I personally test darn near everything I write about. For those few products I can’t test but do write about, I, at the very least, have someone I trust test the products for me (like in the case with men’s products or products not specifically suited to my skin type or colour). Other than that, it’s all me. So with the major amounts of Guinea Pig-ing I do, my skin occasionally arcs up and freaks out. I have had allergic reactions or my skin has threatened an outbreak of the most catastrophic kind! It ain’t pretty. So what do I do in the event of those rare but dark times? I head straight home. I go back to basics.

[A’kin] Unscented ~ 24 Hour Pure Moisture with Shea Butter, Chamomile & Vitamin B5 is home for me. As with all [A’kin] products, Pure Moisture is 100% nasties-free. Not a paraben or sulphate to be found! Pure Moisture was designed specifically for sensitive, allergy prone, fragile and damaged skin, that’s been in the proverbial “wars”. This ever so nurturing moisturizer is positively packed with natural soothing actives such as vitamin B5, Vitamin E, and Viper Bugloss oil, which is a highly concentrated source of Omega 3, 6, and 9 essential fatty acids. [A’kin] Unscented ~ 24 Hour Pure Moisture gives me all the pure, safe, organic, and healing warm and fuzzies my skin needs at such times of crisis. Before long, my skin is back on the road again fit to merrily experience and test more beauty bits just for you.
