Talk About Bang On.
How fab does this sound? You can frame your face with the hottest hair accessory this season: A clip-In Fringe (a clip-in bang for our beloved American beauties) made of 100% human hair! I’m am really digging the sound of this. There wouldn’t be too many of us who haven’t been eyeing off the gorgeous full fringes of the season. The Clip-In Fringe from Headlines Hairpieces clips into the front of your hair across the crown at your desired length. The Clip-In Fringe is available in Caramel, Light Blonde and Dark Brown and can, apparently, be colour matched by your colourist to your exact specifications.
“The fringe has been designed specifically for the girl who isn’t sure what she would look like with a fringe and therefore doesn’t want to risk having one cut into her own hair,” says Headlines Hairpieces owner and creator, Barbara Hatten. “Or for women who have never had a straight fringe as they have cowlicks or curls.”
“It’s designed to help women achieve the latest trends without feeling like they have sacrificed their current look, and to eliminate the tedious task of having to grow their fringe out when they are sick of it!”
I’ll be sure to post a review of the Clip-In Fringe as soon as I can to let you know if it’s real goer. Promise!
S. O. S…. Subdue Our Strands!
I just had to laugh at myself this morning. I had a strand of hair that was really all about doing its own thing. Since I wasn’t up for sporting wayward flyaways, I went for the Terax Gloss Finishing Serum with concentrated silicone and vitamin E. Terax Gloss did the job of subduing my rogue flyaways with great aplomb in two strokes flat. Yessssss! Not only did my hair simmer down, but was instantly shiny and looked nicely finished. Just how we like it.
?NB: Terax Hair Care - This bottle really does need to be fitted with a little super hero cape. It certainly did come to my hair’s rescue. Thanks Super Terax!
Sometimes You’ve Just Got To Kick It Into Gear.
Yep, as you may have gathered, it’s just one of those days. No matter what you do, it’s just one of those days when your hair won’t sit right, and you cannot…to save your soul, do things like fill your brows evenly or blend your blush perfectly, or even conceal that blasted monthly hormonal horror which is sitting so high up on your chin you might just have to give it a name. Well, it happens to the best of us. Not much more to this post than that. My commiserations.
My best suggestion for you today is just kick it into gear, hold your head up high, and channel the abundance of inner beauty that is lying below the naughty hair, misbehaving skin, and mojo-less makeup, and rock it like you mean it! Why? Because you ARE beautiful!
The End Is Nigh.
For your beloved skincare items. Now what? I don’t know about you, but to me, it seems such a colossal waste when you have a product or several products in fact, that will not get used before it’s time for them to give up the ghost. I often find myself in this situation, when I have a beauty product that I adore, so I use only the tinciest amount each application so as to prolong its time in my possession. But what I end up doing, without fail, is miscalculating the realistic daily allotment and end up with tons left when the PAO (see Wednesday’s post) and the commencement of regular sniff testing is just around the corner. It’s ridiculous! Even if the products weren’t suited to you for its original intended use, too oily for your liking, or the wrong texture for your face, for example, perhaps they can be used another way. With a little lateral thinking, it may be possible to salvage that moisturizer, scrub, or mask, and then it won’t seem like such a squander when you have to let it go. Simply reinvent its use.
Just a few of my favourite ways to use up skincare items are as follows:
- use facial exfoliants on the decollete, hands, and the tops of feet.
- use gentle gel cleansers without any chemical exfoliants to cleanse makeup brushes.
- use face cleansers with chemical exfoliants (such as AHA, BHA, SA etc.) as body wash.
- use rich night creams as shaving creams (men can get in on the action with this tip too).
- use face masks on the decollete, hands, and back.
- use moisturizing serums (oil based) as hair glosses.
- use untinted lip balms as hair wax for the bitsy look or to slick down rogue strays.
Wait There’s More…Palm Springs Glamour Hair!
No prizes for guessing which Rosemount Australian Fashion Week 2007 show was my favourite…and no it’s not Groundhog Day! Along with the gorgy looks directed by Noni Smith for ModelCo in the fun Stephanie Conley “Poolside Gossip” Spring/Summer 07/08 RAFW show, I couldn’t get past the absolutely adorable pony created by Renya Xydis for Original Diva Exclusive Hair Inserts. The models in the show had great fun frolicking with super pretty ponytails with bows alternating in yellow, purple, polka-dot, floral, and pink.
To recreate the look:
Step 1. Pull hair back into a high ponytail.
Step 2. Tie hair into a ponytail on the top of the crown.
Step 3. Add Original Diva Exclusive Hair Inserts just under the ponytail.
Step 4. Add Original Diva Exclusive Hair Inserts into the ponytail.
Step 5. Tong the hair and away you go!
Check out Original Diva Exclusive Hair Inserts for more. Too easy!
Living The Legend.
Not too long ago, I had my hair done by a senior stylist at Renya Xydis The Concept Salon in Sydney’s Paddington, using Wella Professionals BioTouch Straight hair range. No prizes for guessing that my hair looked a million bucks. My, generally, really tortured hair was so straight, so shiny, and super silky soft. Just gorgeous. I kept stroking my hair and stealing glances at it in the mirror. Nearly bordering on pathological it was. Pity, it was only going to look this good for another day at most, until I washed it and did, at best, a poor, poor imitation of such a stellar blow-dry. Yep, I know my limitations. So off I went feeling fabulous and knowing full well this moment of hair glory was only fleeting. Sigh.
A few days pass.
I was feeling a bit delusional on the day I decided to have a go at recreating what was now only the legend of great hair. I grabbed a bottle of BioTouch Straight Shampoo, Leave-In Cream, and Intensive Mask and decided to do my worst. Away I went and followed the directions, blew dried my hair and nearly fainted. No silly, my hair wasn’t falling out, it looked fantastic! Admittedly, not a dead spit of the wonderful job the senior stylist at Renya Xydis did, but close enough for me. It wasn’t the case of only the skill of the ever so talented stylist, but the grand coupling of skill and product. Admittedly, I didn’t have the same skill, but I did have the same fab product and my hair didn’t look too shabby, if I say so myself. Enough of my boasting, as I should give, most certainly, credit where credit is due. Wella Professionals BioTouch Straight with Smoothing Complex and Jojoba Oil completely assisted me in getting the perfectly straight locks I am so into at the moment. BioTouch Straight with Smoothing Complex left my chemically and heat straightened hair, healthy, silky smooth, and full of shine. My hair was left feeling *whispers* much like it did on that magic day at the salon. Could I, quite possibly, have salon perfect hair at home? I looked much like the lass in the picture below in fact- minus, the face, the cheeky glint in the eye, purse of the lip…and…okay, okay! I admit it! The hair! One can only live and dream. Wella Professional BioTouch certainly took me pretty darn close.
The Good Oil.
We’re talking jojoba oil, in fact. Jojoba oil (Simmondsis chinensis) is one of the more underrated oils for use in skincare, but amongst the most versatile. Jojoba oil isn’t really an oil in the strictest sense. It’s largely made up of unsaturated wax esters therefore, it’s really a wax. Since jojoba oil is a mostly wax-like, all be told, it can be quite resistant to going rancid. That’s got to be a good thing. It has a reasonable shelf life too and can be used effectively in many skincare preparations and is even highly effective neat. Jojoba oil is an awesome facial oil. A favourite Beauty Marked! way to use jojoba oil is as a facial serum on freshly washed, yet still damp skin. Divine. A drop or two only, gently patted on your face will absorb in no time and leave your skin nourished. Since jojoba oil, most closely of any of the oils, resembles the skin’s natural sebum, there are no worries that the face will become excessively oily.
Jojoba oil is also used effectively to condition the hair too. Many shampoos and conditioners contain this gem. Try a drop or two of jojoba as a styling aid. Hair caressed in the thinest amount of this oil appears so healthy and has the most radiant shine. Native Americans of the Sonora Desert were the first to get hip to jojoba oil and it’s magnificent cosmetic properties. It is certainly worth grabbing a bottle of jojoba oil (especially certified organic if you can) to keep in your beauty arsenal. After all, it might just be that gorgeous little elixir of life you’ve been looking for. Wink.
