The Progressive Pedicure.

The other day a new client of mine said to me that she dreads the strappy summer sandal season because she never has time for a pedicure and is always embarrassed about the state of her feet. Just for a moment, a rather surreal moment, after hearing this, I had a very dark and chilling thought about life without the possibility of pedicure, I shivered for a second and then popped back to the magic of present moment of all things mani and pedicured. Needless to say, I felt for her. No time for a pedicure? No time to feel fabulous and confident in gorgeous summer shoes? *shivers again and races back to my happy place*

Then I asked this lovely lass if she’d ever thought of a progressive pedicure? A progressive pedi might indeed be the salvation for her sole. *idea* All you need to do for a progressive pedi is to scrub your feet, especially the heels and balls of your feet and around the skin along the sides and bottom of your big toes with a pumice stone when showering daily, which takes like…a minute. Then when your drying your feet, make sure to firmly rub to dry all over your feet as this does wonders to further slough off dead skin. Then moisturize your feet, as post showering is ideal. At some stage, take the opportunity to clip your toe nails and file them short and squarish. That can be all that’s done at this time.

On the next opportunity you have a hot minute post your daily pumice, firm dry, and moisturizing session, push your cuticles back carefully and paint your toes with a base coat. If you prefer toes sans polish, just gently push your cuticles back, buff your clean, clipped, and square-filled nails and leave it at that. If you do decide to polish your nails, just do a coat at a time. You can do a lightening-fast coat a day or a coat between chores etc.. It’s lucky for us, that toe nails that are cut short and squared will actually hold a neater polish longer. When you have finally managed to polish your toes completely and follow up with a top coat, they will stay looking dazzling for sometime. Especially, if we continue to moisturize after showering. You can also do a quick slick of top coat every few days to ensure that your nail polish remain in good nick. So there you have it. Great looking feet that are in fantastic form before you know it! Do enjoy!

A Handy Number From Ms. Necessity…Literally!

Since we wouldn’t dream of dashing out with dingy digits if we can help it, what’s a quick little number to dry those nails in a hurry? Well, thanks yet again, to the mother of invention…Ms. Necessity’s got you covered. To dry nail polish quickly, try popping your nails into very cold water, but only after you have waited a minimum of about 5-7 minutes of natural drying time. Alternately, you can hold your fingers in the freezer for several minutes or longer if you can Brrrrrrrr…I mean bear it! *boom tish* That aught to give your polish the brisk hurry up, for sure.

Just awesome! Thanks, Ms. Necessity! xx

Prior To Proceeding To Boarding Gate.

When traveling by airplane, your skin is likely to to dry out from the cabin air if left to its own devices. Prior to flying, apply liberal amounts of quality moisturizer to your face, hands, body, and lip balm to your lips (preferably petroleum free). Although high maintenance and not entirely integral, water spritzes are effective, but only if applied often during the flight. But, and it’s a big but, if you water spritz without ensuring that a liberal amount of moisturizer has been applied and quite possibly reapplied prior to spritzing, you’ll soon end up with ultra dehydrated and ashen skin. More than likely, not the effect you were going for. Perhaps the water is best drunken and not spritzed. (That sounds rather Bond-ish doesn’t it?) So before heading on-board, do make sure you’ve got yourself all moisturized-up and expect a great flight!

Changing Sides.

I had to laugh at myself the other day. I went to learn about an Australian hair care range that has recently repackage all of their offerings and added a few other new bits and bobs to the range. So as part of the reintroduction to the range, they washed and blew dried my hair using various products and tools from the collection. So basically, it was just a meet and greet for my hair so to speak. All this to say, I was in the groove and pleased to learn about and experience the products (I think it was the fabbo head massage that really sucked me in) until the hairdresser said, “Okay, I’m done. I hope you like it.”

My eyes bugged out of my head. Eep! “Done?”, I said. Gulp. But as I was gaping at my reflection in the mirror, all I could see or rather couldn’t see was NO part. Oh, my goodness. I have had a part in my hair for the better part of…well, let’s say forever. Admittedly, my hair did look lovely, but I thought it would have suited someone else’s head better. You know what I mean? Between you and me, I worried if I stood up from the chair, would I topple over or something, be consumed by a sort of strange waxy catatonia, or possibly loose my command of speech? These bizarre thoughts did race through my mind. Well I’m pleased to say that I was able to muster a gracious thank you for the hairdresser and make my way fleet-footedly out of the salon. Right. First stop: my car’s rear-view mirror. After several deep breaths and few strategic shakes of my head a part returned. Phew. But oddly enough, it was not on my long standing right side, but on my left! What do ya know? As I was so pleased to see a part return, I didn’t care in the slightest that it was on my left side. In fact, it really worked. For some reason, my hair seemed to gain a bit of height at the crown and looked quite fresh. Go figure? It was the wackiest thing. Tell me I’m not the only one to wonder about their fate if they ever changed sides or if they’d live to tell about it?
